Why is the dental industry the one that most uses additive manufacturing in production?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unlike other technologies, which use 3D printing for the manufacture of prototypes or tools, the dental sector is the one that uses it most extensively for the production of final pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The truth is that, in general, if there is a really efficient way to manufacture something through a traditional process, and there are no deficiencies or limitations in that process, additive manufacturing has little to offer. That said, 3D printing has always been the easiest production process to use to produce complex parts and with an almost completely linear cost of scaling in production volume. In other words, it is very easy to manufacture a complex part and to manufacture two costs twice as much as to manufacture one, simplifying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teeth are complex shapes and, although they all look similar, they are actually all different. There is no technology that is capable of manufacturing a crown, or a skeleton, for example, as quickly and as cheaply as a 3D printer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the dental industry, 3D printing offers advantages and benefits that would be impossible using traditional manufacturing technologies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
